Jurassic World was an instant hit over the summer and the DVD release was much anticipated. If you already had a marathon of Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and Jurassic Park III and have no idea what to watch next, check out the list below of Movies, T.V. Shows, and Audiobooks that are similar to Jurassic World.
Guardians of the Galaxy-If you found yourself enjoying Chris Pratt’s wit and comedy, give Guardians of the Galaxy a shot. Don’t let its Marvel film status daunt you; it can stand entirely on its own without knowledge from prior Marvel movies. Follow the brash adventurer, Peter Quill, as he finds himself as the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by the powerful and villainous alien, Ronan.
Pacific Rim-When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes– a washed up former pilot and an untested trainee. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.
Super 8– Writer J.J. Abrams wows, as usual, with Super 8. In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witnesses a catastrophic train crash and soon they suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local deputy tries to uncover the truth– something more terrifying than anyone could have imagined.
The Walking Dead– Zombies are a little bit different than the threat of dinosaurs, but the adventure in the AMC original series will not disappoint. The world as we know it is gone, ravaged by a “zombie epidemic.” Protagonist, Rick Grimes, goes searching for his wife and child, using his intelligence and police training to stay alive. Eventually he reunites with his loved ones, who have gone on the run with a motley crew of survivors.
Lost– If you enjoyed the adventure side of Jurassic World and loved J.J. Abram’s writing in Super-8, Lost is right up your alley. Follow along as a group of survivors attempt to survive after their plane crashes on a stranded island. The island isn’t all that it appears to be with a mysterious and frightening force at hand.
Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton– Many people don’t know, but the first Jurassic Park is adapted from a novel. Check out the audiobook of the start of such an adventurous film series. Also, check out Michael Crichton’s other audiobooks such as Micro and Prey.
I am Legend by Richard Matheson– Along the same lines as The Walking Dead, zombies are an entirely different “monster” but the adventure is still there in I am Legend. A terrible plague has decimated the world, and those who were unfortunate enough to survive have been transformed into blood-thirsty creatures of the night. Except, that is, for Robert Neville. He alone appears to be immune to this disease, but the grim irony is that now he is the outsider. Check out the movie adaptation featuring Will Smith.
